How are ballroom dancing shoes different from regular high heels? Is there any real distinction between official "ballroom dancing" shoes and your standard high-heeled dress sandal? I know that they are different, but I'm wondering what makes them so special that people go to dance stores to buy ballroom dancing shoes. My interest was piqued by my own sorry-looking high-heeled sandals. I'm going to a dance in April (for the first time - and to actually dance!) and my shoes are pretty flimsy. I'm wondering if they fall so short of dancing shoes that I'll need to buy a new pair.
What do you think about ballroom dancing nowadays? I can't dance to save my life, plain and simple. Or maybe I just allow myself to believe that. I once embarrassed myself in elementary school at the prom and never danced again. My girlfriend on the other hand, loves to dance. Mostly the bump n grind type of stuff, but also slow dancing. I never want to go on the dance floor with her because she wants to push me to do dances and stuff that I never tried before where people look at me funny and it gets her kinda sad that I don't want to dance. Now, she wants to go to the homecoming dance at my college and I've been secretly taking ballroom dancing classes that are being offered here. I know it's not the same as grinding on each other and everything but I figure there will be at least one slow song to dance too. But I also wanted to know what people think about ballroom dancing nowadays. Is it enjoyable still, and do you think my girlfriend will be happy to see that I'm finally not being a wall flower and actually pulling her to dance?
Where is the best place to take ballroom dancing in Seattle? I'm planning to take ballroom dancing lessons with a partner in the Seattle area (I actually live in Issaquah, about 30 minutes east of Seattle), but we're not sure where to start. We're both complete beginners, and we're looking for something with a little variety--mostly in the smooth dance category: waltz, tango, foxtrot, etc. We'd also like to keep it under a budget of about 60 dollars, ideally 10-12 per lesson. Can anyone help?
As a Catholic, are ballroom dancing partners sometimes too close for good morals? As a Catholic, are ballroom dancing partners sometimes too close for good morals? Should I sign up for ballet or ballroom dancing? I am 16 years old, and have no experience in dance, but have always loved to watch ballet and ballroom dancing. Every year I go and see the Nutcracker, and return home twirling around the kitchen. I also love to go to church dances, and often dream of dancing at a ball (or something similar). I want to sign up for one of these classes, not to become a professional at it, but to get in shape, have something to be proud of, and also to feel pretty. Which do you think I should do?
How can i convince my boyfriend to go Ballroom Dancing? I thought it would be a great, romantic and fun idea for a date. we're both on holiday and when i next see him it will soon be our 5 month anniversary. I was thinking when we get to 6 we could go to a ballroom dancing class. But he's very proud of his masculinity (it's kind of a joke but he's being stubborn nevertheless) and he insists it's gay, and that i can never make him do it. Hmm, ideas to twist him round to my way of thinking? - and seriously no sick/sexual answers, they're never funny anyway.
How old is too old for ballroom dancing? So I have about 7 years of dance training, but I haven't danced in a while (about 2 years! agh!) because of my knee. I mostly danced jazz and hip hop. Is it okay to wear knee high boots with 2 to 3 inch heels for ballroom dancing? I have been ballroom dancing for about half a decade now and I find dancing in high heeled shoes with minimal padding very tiring, especially if I am dancing for a long time. Lately I have been wearing a dress with a knee length hemline and a pair of gorgeous knee high boots with 2 to 3 inch heel and inside the boots I am wearing a pair of thick padded socks. I find this way, I can dance a lot longer without getting tired. The padded socks really help. I also really love this look. It is comfortable and cute but I am wondering, is this attire appropriate for semi-formal ballroom events?
