What's the next closest type of dance to Ballroom Dancing?

My mom could not find any ballroom dancing in our area and I really want to do it!

1. well, so you dont get disappointed again, the best thing to do is to find what IS in your area. if you want to do a partner thing, like ballroom, you could check out swing dance or salsa. im not sure if there are other types that are similar since ballroom dancing entails different kinds of dancing in itself, like the waltz, tango, etc. but yeah. definately find out what you DO have in your area before you find out what you want.
