Just joined a ballroom dancing class, can anyone recommend a dvd so I can practice the basic steps at home?
Joined a ballroom dance class 3 weeks ago, enjoying it very much, but finding I cant remember the steps from week to week, and with the class not being held for 2 weeks over xmas, thought I would get a dvd or video so I can practice the basic steps at home.

- I beleive you can get a dvd made by the professional dancers on dancing with the stars.
- I would just wait after Christmas and see if the teacher is really good, maybe not. Are you the only one in you class to do not remember the steps ? The teacher should be able to teach your the steps.
- Hello Kitty, There are so many different ballroom dances, that in fact it would not be appropriate or beneficial to recommend a DVD for you here. The best person to ask is your dance teacher. She may even have ones that you can borrow. Until then, while you are so new at ballroom, your best practice at home is walking (!) Stand up straight, chin slightly up, shoulders back, feet in third position (left foot under your bum facing left, right foot with thr heel to your left instep and facing forward). Step first with your right foot, heel first, then let you body flow until it is over you foot, then the same with you left foot. In most ballroom dances, you lead with your heel. You want to be walking along a thin line - like a painted line, with your feet under your naughty bits rather than under your butt cheeks. The length of your steps varies with the dance that you are doing and the height of your partner, so for now, just make them the length that is most comfortable for you. All the best
- On youtube they have a lot of little clips by top dancers showing steps Here is an example of one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOroZ47kj7U
