  1. You can use any step you like on both long wall and short wall. Especially when you just start - you don't know how to do the fance stuff yet when you need to concern yourself if it won't fit on the short wall. Just start with Bronse syllabus steps. Ask a teacher to show you a simple routine that you can dance around the room. It will be more efficient than you trying to read it from a piece of paper, attempting it and gettign yourself all confused. It usually takes a year or two before you can read routines off a sheet of paper and dance them. http://www.ballroomdancers.com is a good website. They show you dance steps in short demo videos. Here is a good variation for beginner American Foxtrot: http://youtube.com/watch?v=-z28yVGGUCU Here is a very basic routine for International Foxtrot (well maybe except a line figure in the end, skip that part for now) http://youtube.com/watch?v=94JbmwxOy_0&feature=related But really, don't bother yourself with videos, just take a lesson.
